  • Designing an Efficient Manufacturing Layout Southwest Machine & Plastic: JBA assisted the Southwest team in re-engineering their manufacturing and distribution operation. This effort involved a block layout, detailed manufacturing layouts, and the re-evaluation of the material handling systems.

  • H. C. Lien Rubber: JBA was referred to H.C. Lien Rubber by a leading eminent domain attorney to assist in the relocation budget and coordination effort. H.C. Lien Rubber is a major manufacturer of sponge type rubber used within many industries. Within the eminent domain arena the client must provide multiple bids for disconnect, move, and re-connect to attain appropriate reimbursement. Also, they must handle their vendors, architects, fire life specialist, contractors and riggers in a well organized competitive fashion. JBA assisted in the planning of this multi-million dollar move in a fashion that supported H.C. Lien Rubber in attaining the appropriate compensation from the Los Angeles School Board that forced this move. JBA has completed multiple eminent domain programs with excellent results.

  • Pacific World: Pacific World is a dominant manufacturer of women’s fingernails. They manufacture in China, Mexico and the United States. JBA’s initial job was to assess the ideal locations to manufacture and distribute their products. JBA defined that the US manufacturing component would be best relocated to Mexico and identified which products would be most ideal to make in China or Mexico. JBA then assisted in the design of a new 120,000 square foot manufacturing and distribution center in Tijuana and orchestrated the international relocation of the United States manufacturing to Mexico. JBA is doing more and more work within the international arena and is currently supporting the move of a large plastics manufacturer to Monterey, Mexico.

  • TDK: JBA supported the TDK team in a full re-engineering of their audio tape assembly operation. This involved the full assessment of current methods, procedures and manufacturing tools as well as the general overview of the distribution operation. The re-engineering of TDK increased throughput, quality and overall efficiency.

  • Fluidmaster: John Barry & Associates has worked with Fluidmaster for over 40 years. Fluidmaster, a highly automated operation, has grown to be the leader in toilet valve manufacturing. JBA has assisted in facility planning, move coordination, and industrial engineering in both Fluidmaster’s domestic and international operations.

Electronics

  • manufacturing and distribution ITT Datanetics: JBA re-engineered the keyboard manufacturing operation for ITT Datanetics. This involved the design of a high speed assembly operation as well as the development of job descriptions and engineered time studies. JBA focused on increasing productivity and quality in unison.

  • Endevco: JBA is working with Endevco in the development of their ideal Facility Requirement Definition. This involves the assessment of the current space utilization within each department. JBA then defines opportunity for advancement in layout, process and tools. We then developed a matrix that defined the facility requirement (square foot, utility, ceiling height, dock doors, etc.) that would meet the changing needs at Endevco.

  • Symbol Technologies: JBA supported this leader in bar code advancements, facility planning, manufacturing process engineering and move coordination. JBA worked with the Symbol management and their engineering team in defining the ideal facility requirements for their major consolidation effort. This 300,000+ square foot facility housed their office, distribution, manufacturing, lab and R&D Departments. JBA re-engineered their stock room, electronic assembly department and overall production flow.
